Recent Lexington News states "Central Kentucky Real Estate Market Performing Better than US Averages"

The Lexington Herald-Leader recently reported the following:

        The Lexington area bucked the national trend in new home sales with a dramatic 47% jump in February when compared with January, the Lexington-Bluegrass Association of Realtors reported Wednesday (March 26th, 2008).  But local sales of new homes were down 10% in February, 2008 when compared with February, 2007 the association said.

        The Lexington area also outperformed  the nation in sales of existing homes.  Sales rose 12.2% nationally in February compared with January , the association said, but Lexington-area sales were up 17.5% in February.  The nation saw a decline of 19.4% in February, 2008 compared with February, 2007, while the Lexington area was down only 2.4%, the association said.

        The median sales price was down 1.9% locally and 8.2% nationally in February, 2008 as compared with February, 2007.

         Judy Craft, president of the Lexington Bluegrass Association of Realtors said the report "further illustrates that all real estate is local - dependent on local factors.  And, the Central Kentucky real estate market is continuing to perform better than the US averages.
